About NPCIL
Located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) is a public sector enterprise in India. It is entirely controlled by the Indian government and is in charge of producing nuclear power electricity. The Department of Atomic Energy is in charge of overseeing NPCIL (DAE).
NPCIL was established in September 1987 under the Companies Act, 1956, “with the objective of undertaking the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the atomic power stations for generation of electricity in pursuance of the schemes and programmes of the Government of India under the provision of the Atomic Energy Act 1962.” The company’s nuclear power reactors are all ISO-14001 (Environment Management System) certified.
NPCIL was the only organisation in charge of building and running nuclear programs in INDIA.
